On the eve of her wedding to a young local official, Claire, an independent-minded young woman, decides to celebrate her last day of freedom in the company of her best friend, Farah. When Farah is accosted by two men at the bar where she works, Claire comes to her rescue and kills one of the rapists. The two women flee the scene without informing the police. The next day Claire is married. When Farah is arrested for murder, Claire again must come to her friend's aid. The two friends flee and decide to conduct their own investigation to find the other assailant. In the process they stir up a hornet's nest of political intrigue, racism and corruption.
